A Long and Tiring Week
Good Saturday morning! It has been quite a long and tiring week for me. I'm not sure if it's because of the change in time or just the general circumstances, but the past few days really took a toll on me. Thursday, in particular, was an exceptionally challenging day. It pushed me to my limits, and I even found myself in tears. It wasn't easy, but I managed to work through it without turning to emotional eating. Despite the difficulties, I can confidently say that I made it through and everything is good now.
Dealing with Personal Challenges
This week was especially overwhelming due to a personal tragedy that struck my sister's family. Her husband's side of the family experienced a sudden and tragic loss, which has deeply affected all of us. The weight of this event has been on my mind, and it all seemed to come crashing down on Thursday. However, I am proud to say that I didn't let it Consume me. Instead, I used my work as a way to Channel my emotions and push through the challenging day.
Coping with Emotional Stress
Emotional stress can be incredibly draining, and occasionally, it catches up with us. There are moments when it feels like the weight of the world is on our shoulders, and we're unsure if we can go on. But, as human beings, We Are more resilient than we realize. We have the ability to persevere through the toughest of times. Even when we are reduced to tears, like I was on that difficult Thursday, we find the strength to keep moving forward. It's a reminder that we are capable of overcoming challenges and coming out stronger on the other side.
A Sudden Tragedy in the Family
Sometimes life throws unexpected curveballs at us. This week, my sister's family experienced a sudden and tragic loss on her husband's side of the family. It was a devastating event that has left us all reeling. The weight of grief hangs heavily in the air, and it has been a struggle to find solace. My thoughts and prayers are with my sister and her family as they navigate through this difficult time. The suddenness of the loss serves as a reminder to hold our loved ones close and cherish every moment we have together.
Balancing Work and Personal Life
Finding a balance between work and personal life is always a challenge. This past week, with all the emotional turmoil, it became even more difficult to juggle both aspects of my life. However, I am proud of myself for not letting it affect my work performance. I found the strength to focus and Continue working, even when it felt like everything was falling apart. It's essential to recognize the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, even during the most trying times.
Preparing Delicious Meals
One of the ways I cope with stress is by finding solace in the kitchen. Cooking and preparing delicious meals allows me to channel my emotions into something positive. This weekend, I have a list of mouthwatering dishes that I plan to make. From barbecued pulled pork to German potato salad and coleslaw, I am excited to Create a flavorful spread for dinner tonight. These dishes require some preparation and time, but the end result is well worth the effort.
Cooking Barbecued Pulled Pork
Today, I am starting my Saturday off by cooking some barbecued pulled pork. I had it marinating overnight, and now it's time to shred and prepare it for dinner. The slow cooking process adds a smoky and tender flavor to the meat, making it perfect for sandwiches. I'll be making homemade burger buns to accompany the pulled pork, ensuring a mouthwatering meal that my family will love.
Making German Potato Salad
Another dish on my weekend menu is German potato salad. Unlike traditional potato salads, this dish is served warm or at room temperature and has a tangy, vinegar-Based dressing. It's a side dish that complements the barbecued pulled pork exceptionally well. I plan on making this dish later in the day, closer to dinner time, to ensure it is served at the perfect temperature.
Crafting and Sewing Projects
In addition to cooking, I also have some crafting and sewing projects I'd like to tackle today. I find these activities to be therapeutic and a way to relax my mind. Completing creative projects allows me to express myself and take a break from the stresses of daily life. The Sense of accomplishment I feel when finishing a project is incredibly satisfying. Today, I have a Fabric craft that I'm excited to work on, and I might even document it in a separate video.
A Visit to Friends and their Chickens
Yesterday evening, we had the pleasure of visiting some friends. We took the necessary precautions, maintaining social distancing and wearing masks, to ensure everyone's safety. Our friends recently got baby chickens, and we couldn't resist seeing their adorable four-week-old chicks. It was a delightful experience to spend time with our friends, chatting and engaging in socially distanced activities. The visit brought a sense of normality back into our lives, even if just for a brief moment.
Weekend Outings and Track Meets
While our weekend outings have been limited due to Current circumstances, we try to make the most of what we can. This weekend, our boys are participating in a track meet in South Carolina. It's a significant event for them, and we are thrilled to support them from afar. Andrew had his hammer throw event yesterday and did well, although he didn't make it to the finals. Adam, on the other HAND, has his race today, competing in the 800 meters for the first time. We have encouraged him to give it his best and focus on improving his personal Record.
Exploring the Boardwalk and Beach
After the track meets, our boys will be returning to school, and we plan on heading down to the shore for a day of relaxation. We'll start by getting our season beach tags, which will allow us to access the beach throughout the summer. Ocean City is our destination, and we can't wait to take a leisurely stroll along their famous boardwalk. The boardwalk is filled with shops, restaurants, and delightful treats, making it an enjoyable experience for the whole family. We'll soak in the ocean view, feel the sun on our skin, and revel in the joy of being near the Water.
Exciting Reunion Plans
Looking ahead to the summer, we have something exciting planned - our class reunion. It's hard to believe it has been 35 years since we graduated high school, but time flies. Our reunion will take place at the end of July, and we're all looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and reliving memories. The venue has both indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate everyone comfortably. It will be a special occasion to reminisce about our youth and see how far we've come.
Looking Forward to Hiking and Exploring
As we venture into warmer months, Doug and I have expressed our desire to spend more time hiking and exploring nature. We are fortunate to live in an area with beautiful trails and scenic landscapes. Soaking in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors brings us immense joy and peace. We plan on mapping out various hiking routes and scheduling weekend trips to incorporate more outdoor activities into our lives. It's a chance to reconnect with nature and rejuvenate our spirits.
In conclusion, despite the challenges we face, there are always moments of joy and excitement that make life worth living. Finding the balance between work and personal life is crucial, and sometimes turning to hobbies and creative projects can provide relief from stress. As we look forward to upcoming events, like track meets, beach outings, and our class reunion, there is a sense of hope and anticipation for the future. May we continue to embrace life's surprises and find solace in the simple pleasures that surround us.
