Open Space Q2 Product Releases

Hello, my name is Jess Lamb, and I'm the Director of Product here at Open Space. In this article, I'll be walking You through some of our major releases in Q2 and the improvements we've made to our product. We release new features, improvements, and bug fixes every day, and we want to make sure that our customers are aware of everything that our teams are doing to provide the most value out of Open Space.

Image Enhancement Controls

At our Core, Open Space is about making it as easy as possible to capture images and other reality data on the interior of projects. However, we understand that lighting is not always perfect, and some areas may be darker than others. That's why we've made significant improvements to our image enhancement controls. You can now manually control the brightness, shadows, and sharpening of your images. We've also added an auto-enhance feature that uses AI to automatically enhance the brightness, shadows, and sharpness of your images. This feature is currently in beta, so reach out to your customer success representative if you'd like to get access to it on your active project.

Assigning Field Notes

Our field notes feature is a familiar tool for our customers. However, we've made it even better by adding the ability to assign field notes to other people on the team. This feature is especially useful if you're observing issues or making notes of things that you're discovering on the site and want to make sure that something gets done. You can assign field notes to someone to ensure that the work actually gets done. We've also added the ability to add additional photos to field notes, which will appear as attachments and in the new activity timeline for the field notes.

Subscriptions Portal

We've made significant improvements to our subscriptions portal, where you can view your Open Space subscription, ACV capacity purchase, and better understand how it's being applied across your projects. You can now Create new projects and see how they would impact your Current subscription. This gives our admins more control and visibility into how they're using their Open Space contract and subscription across their portfolio.

Bringing Drone Data into Open Space

We understand that many of our customers are capturing images and data outside of the project site. That's why we've made significant improvements to bring more drone data into Open Space. Our new elevation captures feature allows you to fly the exterior of a building and see the capture and flight path on the outside of the building, along with 360 images and elevation drawings. We're going to Continue to add more ways for you to bring your drone data into Open Space so that you can combine the overhead visual progress of your site with what's happening on the interior.

Bim Plus

Bim Plus is a new product that we've launched to bring additional data into one place for your project teams. We've partnered with VDC managers to design a set of features and workflows that enable and empower superintendents, project engineers, and project managers to compare their model to the work in place and make decisions quickly. With Bim Plus, you can bookmark a specific location for your team or yourself, create a new view, and save views. You can also create field notes and mark up photos with the model. We've also added support for project groups and shared folders.

Heat Notes

We've integrated with the FLIR camera to bring you Heat Notes, where you can take infrared images of your site. This feature is especially useful if you're doing inspections after welding or trying to identify where there might be heat loss from certain ventilation or even Water leaks in walls or ceilings.

Mobile Improvements

We've made significant improvements to our mobile app, including the ability to add multiple images to field notes, a new filters list, and the ability to generate field note reports from mobile. We've also added support for project groups and shared folders. We're always pushing the limits on what we can do with mobile, and we want to make sure that all those tools are easily available and accessible at your fingertips.

Upcoming Betas

We have some exciting betas coming up, including the ability to measure on top of 360 photos and the release of cost codes or cost tracking. We're also adding 3D coordinate positioning to field notes, which will allow those issues to appear in your model.
