How to Connect and Bring New Lights To Your My AI Profile

Are You excited about adding new lights to your aquarium or recently resetting your lights? In this guide, we, Jay and Kade from AK Illumination, will walk you through the step-by-step process of connecting to and bringing new lights or reset lights into your My AI profile. With our easy-to-follow instructions, you'll have your lights up and running in no time.

Downloading the My AI App

Before we begin, make sure you have the My AI app installed on your smartphone. You can find it in the App Store for both Android and iPhone users. If you already have the app, great! If not, head to your App Store and download it now. Once you have the app installed, we can move on to the next step.

Connecting to the Light

To connect your lights to your My AI profile, you'll need to make sure the lights are flashing an alternating Blue and green light. For the Prime HD lights, look for the alternating lights on top of the light. If you're using the 52 HD or 26 HD lights, check the back of the light.

Connecting to the Prime HD

Once you see the alternating blue and green lights, it's time to connect. Open the settings on your phone and select Wi-Fi. You will Notice a Wi-Fi network with the same name as your light's serial number. Select the Wi-Fi network corresponding to your Prime HD light. Once connected, you will see a checkmark indicating the successful connection.

Now, go back to the My AI app. If the app doesn't automatically detect the connected light, tap on the plus sign on the top of your screen next to the word "welcome." Select the device you are adding, and all the connected devices will appear. Choose the one you are connected to and proceed to the next steps.

Connecting to the 26 HD

If you have a 26 HD light connected, follow the same steps as above for connecting to the Prime HD. Once you have connected your 26 HD light, you can proceed with the setup process.

Setting Up Your Aquarium

After successfully connecting to the light, it's time to set up your aquarium within the My AI app.

Naming Your Aquarium

The first step is to give your aquarium a name. Select a basic name or get creative and come up with something unique. This name will help you identify your aquarium within the app.

Setting Up Parent-child Configuration

If you have multiple lights or a single light setup, you can choose to set them up as parent-child configurations. This allows you to control multiple lights as a group. If you have only one light, it will be set as the parent automatically.

To set up parent-child configuration, select all the lights you want to connect and hit the "Select All" option. This will group the lights together for easy control.

Choosing a Network

In this step, you have the option to connect your lights to your home Wi-Fi network or skip the process and run them off their own Wi-Fi.

Connecting to Home Wi-Fi

If you want to connect your lights to your home Wi-Fi network and access them remotely, choose the option to connect to your home network. This allows you to control your lights from anywhere using the My AI app.

Skipping and Using Local Connection

If you prefer not to connect to your home network or don't have one, you can skip this step. Your lights will run on their own built-in Wi-Fi network, allowing local connectivity only.

Firmware Updates

In some cases, your light may require a firmware update. If prompted, you can choose to update the firmware or select "Not Now" to proceed without updating. Firmware updates ensure you have the latest features and improvements for your lights.

Testing and Scheduling

Before we wrap up the setup process, it's essential to test your lights and set up any desired schedules.

To test the light, go to the "Control" section in the My AI app. From there, you can turn the lights on and off. It's always a good idea to verify that the lights respond as expected.

If you want to automate your lighting schedule, the My AI app allows you to set up specific times for turning the lights on and off. This feature is especially useful for replicating natural lighting conditions for your aquarium.
