December TBR and Reading Plans
Welcome back to my Channel! Today, I'm here to share with you my chaotic and ambitious December TBR (To Be Read) list. I have a lot of exciting plans for December, and I'm looking forward to diving into these reads. Let's get started!
Strange Book Club
First things first, I want to mention the Strange Book Club. We Are in the process of finalizing our December pick, but you can find the Instagram link below to stay updated on the selection. We will also be hosting a live Show to discuss the chosen book, so make sure to join in on the discussion!
Kill Creek Read-along
Next, I am thrilled to be participating in the Kill Creek Read-along. This read-along is being hosted by Rain from Bruises and Vine, Savannah from Riveting Reads, Deja from Deja's Book World, and McKay from McKay's Book Club. Kill Creek by Scott Thomas has been on my TBR for a while, and I'm excited to finally dive into this haunted house thriller. I've heard nothing but praise for this book, and I can't wait to see what all the hype is about.
If You've Got It, Read It Read-a-thon
I will also be participating in the If You've Got It, Read It Read-a-thon, which takes place from December 1st to December 14th. This read-a-thon is a catch-up on the prompts and goals of the year-long challenge created by Megan and Sue from The Spinebreakers. The challenge is to read books that fit the prompts from your own shelves. Let's take a look at some of the prompts I'll be fulfilling.
Five Star Prediction
For the Five Star Prediction prompt, I have chosen Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence. This is the first book in the Broken Empire trilogy, a grim-dark high fantasy series that follows an anti-hero on a revenge Quest. This book has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time, and I have a feeling it will be a five-star read for me Based on the synopsis and my personal preferences.
Author That is New to Me
To fulfill the prompt of reading an author that is new to me, I have selected Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. This book explores a dystopian future where all animals are infected with a disease, making it impossible for humans to eat them. I've heard people rave about the ending of this book, and I'm intrigued to see how the author tackles these thought-provoking themes.
Something That's Not Your Typical Novel
For this prompt, I would love to read The Green Mile by Stephen King. Although it may be considered a typical novel by some, I have the serialized editions, which consist of six little novellas. This format adds an interesting twist to the reading experience, and I'm excited to dive into this renowned novel by Stephen King.
Book You Remember Nothing About
Lastly, I have Lost and Wanted by Nell Freudenberger. This book was a pick from my April 2019 Book of the Month Club subscription. It has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time, and I can't remember anything about it. Instead of refreshing my memory, I've decided to wait for the read-a-thon and go into this book with no expectations. It's a relatively short read, and I hope it surprises me.
Scary Little Christmas-a-thon
In addition to the read-alongs and read-a-thons Mentioned earlier, I will also be co-hosting the Scary Little Christmas-a-thon. This read-a-thon is organized by Rayne from Brews and Vines, Marcy from RC Reads, and Sarah from Coffee Time. Here are the three books I plan to read for this festive read-a-thon.
-
Roald Dahl's Book of Ghost Stories: As part of the Scary Little Christmas-a-thon, I wanted to have a short story collection to read. Roald Dahl's Book of Ghost Stories seemed like the perfect choice. It's a compilation of chilling ghost stories curated by the legendary Roald Dahl.
-
Kin by Kealan Patrick Burke: Kealan Patrick Burke is known for his dark and atmospheric writing, making Kin a fitting choice for the read-a-thon. This book promises to deliver a haunting tale, and I can't wait to be immersed in its atmospheric horror.
-
Seed by Ania Ahlborn: Ania Ahlborn is a master of horror, and Seed is one of her most acclaimed works. This book follows a family dealing with a sinister presence in their midst. It's sure to be a Spine-chilling read that will keep me on the edge of my seat.
I also plan on reading A Sky Beyond the Storm, the final book in the An Ember in the Ashes quartet by Sabaa Tahir. Having recently listened to the first three books on audiobook, I'm eagerly anticipating the conclusion to this epic series.
Currently, I am reading A Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse, and I hope to finish it by the end of November. Additionally, I'm making progress in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, and I will Continue to read it during the month of December.
In conclusion, I have an ambitious and exciting reading month ahead of me. I hope you enjoyed hearing about my December TBR and reading plans. Let me know in the comments if you will be participating in any of these read-a-thons or if you have any recommendations for me. Until next time, happy reading!
