Introduction

Welcome to my Channel! My name is Yaffi, and today I am excited to Show You my Fakemon process. Many of you have been requesting this for a while, so I hope you enjoy it. But before we dive in, let's first explain what a Fakemon is.

What is a Fakemon?

A Fakemon is a fake Pokemon. Yes, you heard that right. It is a Pokemon that someone creates, often inspired by the original Pokemon series. Pokemon is one of the highest-grossing franchises of all time, and Pikachu has become an iconic character. Now, let's move on to the process of creating a Fakemon.

The Process of Creating Fakemon

Stage 1: Concept

The first stage of the process is coming up with a concept for your Fakemon. For my Second region, I decided to Create a Fakemon inspired by Norse mythology. I researched North-related creatures such as trolls and yotnaris, which turn to stone during the day. I also took inspiration from gargoyles, which are statues of flying bat-like beasts, and golems made of stone. For the typing, I chose Rock and Fairy, as it aligns with the fantasy theme. Let's move on to the next stage.

Stage 2: Sketching

Now that I have a concept in mind, it's time to bring it to life through sketching. Sketching is the process of getting all your ideas out onto the canvas. During this stage, I wanted my Fakemon to appear frail and weak. I used a modified version of a brush given to me by my friend Yo Kaiju. It's essential to have clear goals in mind while sketching. Let's proceed to the next stage.

Stage 3: Line Art

With the sketch complete, it's time to move on to the line art. I used a brush sent by Yo Kaiju, which has variations for both stylus and finger users. It's important to practice using long swooping lines for everything except for Sugomori line artwork, where consecutive lines are preferred. Once the line art is finished, I decreased the size of the sketch and used it as a reference window for color picking. Let's move on to coloring.

Stage 4: Coloring

When it comes to coloring, I like to start by selecting the outside of the line art with the bucket tool on the selection layer. This helps me keep the color hierarchy and ensures clean coloring. I use separate layers for each color to keep things neat and tidy. For this Fakemon, I selected variations of colors from my references, with an accent color that pops. Teal was the accent color I chose. Now, let's proceed to the next stage.

Stage 5: Shading and Highlights

Shading and highlighting play a crucial role in bringing depth and dimension to your Fakemon. For shading, I color picked from official artworks and used a multiply clipping layer for a cleaner effect. For highlights, I used an add layer on the clipping layer and kept the opacity at 20 percent. It's important to maintain rough edges for a more authentic look. Additionally, I incorporated bright points to emphasize where the light focuses on the design. Finally, I used the watercolor smooth brush for eyelets to keep them rougher on the edges. Let's move on to the next section.

Rendering and Evolution

Now that we have completed all the stages of creating the Fakemon, it's time to render the final result. The Fakemon I have created is named "Trolder." Trolders are frail Golem Pokemon that spend their days searching for food while often being harassed by other Pokemon due to their small stature. The rendering process involves adjusting the canvas size and adding the finishing touches to the sketch. Through careful shading, coloring, and highlighting, the Fakemon comes to life. It's important to pay Attention to the details and maintain consistency with the overall design. Now, let's wrap things up.

Conclusion

Creating Fakemon is a fun and creative process that allows you to bring your imagination to life. From concept to rendering, each stage requires attention to Detail and careful execution.
