Introduction
Welcome back to my Channel! In this video, I will walk You through the process of creating a composite using Affinity Photo 2. I have all the necessary assets ready, so let's dive right in.
Gathering Assets
Before we begin, I have gathered all the images needed for this composite. You will find the links to these images in the description below. Some of them are available for free on the "Buy Me a Coffee" site.
Building the Composite
Now, let's start building our composite by organizing each layer step by step.
Adding the Grass Layer
The first layer we will add is the grass layer. Place the picture of the grass in the desired position.
Placing the Tree Trunks and Branches
Next, we will add the tree trunks and branches on each side of the composite. This will Create a strong foundation for our composition.
Adding Rocks and Stone Wall
To add depth to our composition, we will now place some rocks and a stone wall in the foreground.
Including the Crow Layer
Now it's time to add the crow on top of the composition. This will bring a Sense of mystery and intrigue to the overall image.
Adding the City Background and Sky
To set the scene, we will add a city background in the distance. This will create a sense of Scale and add depth to our composite. We will also add a sky layer to complement the cityscape.
Incorporating the Stars and Moon
Next, we will turn on the stars layer and adjust the Blend mode to screen. This will give our composition a celestial and dreamlike feel. We will also add a moon to further enhance the atmosphere.
Enhancing the Grass Layer
Upon closer inspection, we Notice some imperfections in the grass layer. To fix this, we will select the grass layer and use the tonal range function to delete any white bits. We can also duplicate the grass layer for a denser look and flip it horizontally for variety.
Adding the Character
Now it's time to add our main character. I have selected a character from Neo Stock, and I will provide the link for you to download it as well. Cut out the wings from the character and add a mask to it. Use a soft brush to blend the wings seamlessly into the composition.
Adjusting the Wings and Recoloring
To further enhance the wings, we will adjust the exposure and add a recolor layer. Invert the recolor layer and use a soft brush to Apply red highlights to the wings. This will add a touch of uniqueness and vibrancy to our character.
Finalizing the Model and Crow
To bring our character to life, we will add a recolor layer and invert it. Use a soft brush to paint in the colors of the sword and saber. This will create a Cohesive look between the character and the weapons. We will also add highlights to the crow and adjust its exposure to make it stand out.
Adding Shadows and Highlights
Now it's time to add shadows and highlights to the various elements of our composition. We will adjust the exposure on each layer, darkening them to create depth and drama.
Darkening and Tweaking the Layers
Continuing with the adjustments, we will darken the trees, branches, and other elements to further enhance the overall mood of the composition. We will also add highlights to certain areas to create focal points.
Adding Light and Glow Effects
To add a touch of magic, we will make the swords and the model glow. We will create a pixel layer above the model and fill it with black. Then, using a soft brush and a low flow, we will paint a subtle glow onto the model and the swords.
Including Additional Details
To further enhance the composition, we will add additional details such as blood splatters and Water drips. These small details will add depth and realism to the scene.
Using Tone Mapping for Finishing Touches
Now that all the elements are in place, we will use the Tone Mapping feature to refine the overall look of the composition. We will adjust the tone compression, contrast, and white balance to achieve the desired effect.

In conclusion, creating a composite requires careful layering and adjustments to bring all the elements together. By following the steps outlined in this tutorial, you can create your own stunning composite artwork. Remember to experiment and have fun along the way!
