Repairing the Audi and Testing the Peugeot 308 CC ABS Sensor

In this week's video, We Are going to address the issue with the Audi and also perform a test on the ABS sensor of the Peugeot 308 CC. So, let's dive right in!

Introduction

A while back, while taking Claire for a walk, I unfortunately got reversed into in a car park, resulting in damage to the Audi's bumper and quarter panel. Initially, I thought the car might be written off, which would have allowed me to buy it back and work on repairing it myself. However, the repair shop is confident that they can fix it, so I decided to go ahead with the repairs.

Getting the Audi repaired

With the decision made, it was finally time to drop off the Audi at the repair shop in Glasgow. I have mixed feelings about leaving my car in someone else's hands, but it had to be done. The repair process is expected to take about a week, so hopefully, I'll have my car back before our Christmas holiday.

Damage assessment

Upon arrival at the repair shop, the damage to the Audi was carefully assessed. The bumper had suffered significant damage, as well as the quarter panel. The body gaps were also pulled out, affecting the alignment. It was clear that a thorough repair of the quarter panel and a redo of the bumper were necessary to restore the car to its former glory.

Repairing the quarter panel and bumper

The repair shop started by focusing on the quarter panel. The damaged area needed extensive Attention to ensure a proper repair. The skilled technicians carefully manipulated the metal to restore its original Shape. Once the quarter panel was repaired, they moved on to the bumper.

The bumper required a complete redo due to the extent of the damage. The repair shop used their expertise to meticulously craft a new bumper, ensuring it would seamlessly integrate with the rest of the car. With the repair work completed, the Audi was now ready for a fresh coat of paint.

The new Porsche Macan Wheels

During the repair process, I decided to make some upgrades to the Audi. One of the first changes I made was installing new wheels. I opted for a set of Porsche Macan Wheels, which Instantly added a touch of style to the car. The new wheels complemented the Audi's design, giving it a more modern and sporty look. I was thoroughly pleased with how they transformed the overall appearance of the car.

Need for lowering the front of the car

Despite the new wheels, there was one issue that needed to be addressed – the front of the car sat higher than desired. It was a noticeable imbalance that needed correction. Lowering the front of the Audi would not only improve its stance but also enhance its aerodynamics. It was essential to achieve a more balanced and aggressive look.

Dropping off the Audi at the repair shop

After carefully considering my options, I made the decision to drop off the Audi at the repair shop. It was a difficult choice, as I Never liked leaving my car with other people, but I knew it was necessary for the repairs to be done properly. I handed over the keys, hoping that the repair process would be smooth and that I would have my car back in no time.

Courtesy car from Enterprise

As part of the repair service, Enterprise provided a courtesy car to use in the meantime. To my surprise, they gave me a 2020 Volkswagen SRI model as a replacement. The car was in decent condition, although it could have used a good power wash. Nonetheless, it served its purpose and allowed me to Continue with my daily activities while my own car was being repaired.

Testing the Peugeot 308 CC ABS sensor

While waiting for the Audi to be repaired, we decided to do a small job for one of our subscribers. This involved testing the ABS sensor on a Peugeot 308 CC. The subscriber had reported a fault code indicating a faulty sensor. We used a multimeter to test the sensors, and indeed, one of them was reading faulty resistance.

Swapping the ABS sensor on the Peugeot

With the faulty ABS sensor identified, it needed to be replaced to solve the issue. We proceeded to remove the sensor, using a clever trick through the wheel stud. This allowed us easy access to the sensor without having to remove the brake caliper and the hub.

Once the faulty sensor was out, we noticed damage to the pickup ring. It seemed that something had been jammed between the ring and the sensor, causing damage to both components. We replaced the sensor with a new one and carefully inspected the pickup ring to ensure there was no further damage.

The Astra as a work van

Since we had some downtime between the Audi repair and awaiting the Peugeot ABS ring, we decided to use our Astra as a work van. We had a job for one of our subscribers, and the Astra proved to be a reliable alternative. It managed to handle the task without any issues, demonstrating its versatility as a work vehicle.
