In 1934, my grandfather Michał Cap and his mother Maria made the decision to leave their home in Prusiek, Poland, and start a new life in Canada. Despite his longing to return to visit his homeland, he Never had the opportunity. However, 87 years later, I had the chance to come back to Poland and rediscover my Polish heritage. This journey took place during my professional basketball season, and it turned out to be an extraordinary experience that connected me with my roots and allowed me to meet my long-lost relatives.

As my basketball season in Poland came to an end, I packed my life into two suitcases and prepared to embark on a different kind of adventure. Accompanied by my good friend Iwona, who could help with translation since my Polish skills were limited, we set off to meet my cousin whom my mother had connected with through a letter. We were eager to meet my family members and explore the place where my grandfather grew up.
