Content creation and content writing go hand in hand. A good content writer is generally a person who can rewrite text in a more appropriate way. Content writing isn’t a field or job; rather, it is a combination of trials, testing, errors, and failure. You do these things to earn success.

As the AI is already involved in a lot of processes of content writing, the easier way is to use an online tool and automatically generate content. But, here comes a question!

Does AI content work the same way as human content?

The simple answer is no. A human tends to write after doing research and generally adds their own views, research, and analysis, while AI content lacks all these things. It is basically trained on large language models, and it will provide almost similar output every time.

You might not get plagiarism, but you’ll definitely have AI similarities in your content. Just imagine that AI tools can easily detect AI percentages for free. If such tools are doing so, why can’t Google?

Rewriting is a proper art. A lot of the time, it is referred to as rephrasing or rewording. Actually, there’s a huge difference between rewording and paraphrasing, but generically, both can be combined.

Here are some main reasons to rewrite text or sentences:

  • To make existing content better.
  • To add your views to existing content.
  • To avoid plagiarism and similarity with other published resources.
  • To avoid AI detection within the content.
  • To prevent academic or professional misconduct.

These are some common reasons why some people rewrite content. Now that we’ve discussed why we rewrite text, let’s find some key things that can make rewriting easier.

The top things that can make you rewrite content in a better way

Before I start discussing the ways to rewrite, let’s first have a sentence that we can use as an example.Here’s a sentence that I generated using ChatGPT:

Digital marketing leverages online platforms and tools to strategically reach and engage target audiences, driving brand awareness, customer acquisition, and business growth in the digital landscape.

You can see that the sentence is 26 words long. It is an extremely lengthy sentence that can harm you in several ways. Such as:

  • Readers can instantly lose interest while reading lengthy sentences.
  • It makes readability difficult.
  • Lengthy sentences make your content look ordinary and poorly written.
  • Since readers lose interest, they will not interact with your content.
  • If users aren’t interacting, you can’t convert them.

Now that we know how deadly a lengthy sentence can be, let’s work on it to make it better.

1. Analyze a sentence

Before you start rewriting a sentence or a piece of content, make sure you analyze it properly. You need to analyze:

  • The core meaning or the context
  • Tone and structure of that sentence
  • The message that sentence is conveying
  • What do you want to turn your existing sentence into?

These are some of the main things you consider while analyzing your sentence. After analyzing a sentence properly, you can proceed with your efforts at rewriting.

2. Identify what to keep and what to remove.

After analyzing, you start thinking about sentence structure. Here, you identify which part of the sentence is totally baseless or in flux and what your important information is. You do not want to remove your main information at any cost. Because this will make your sentence more unhelpful, and the content quality will decrease.

For example, if a sentence is discussing the “diet plan Cristiano Ronaldo follows,"  make sure you rewrite this while keeping its core meaning intact.

3. Avoid passive voice while rewriting.

If you’re rewriting one sentence only, it is okay to use passive voice, but you should also see if previous sentences are in passive voice too. If you are rewriting a complete paragraph, avoid passive voice.

4. Structure and start rewriting

Ok, so it is time for us to start rewriting that sentence. My first aim will be to split that lengthy sentence in two parts. This will make my sentences easier to read. Here’s how the sentences will look initially once I split it into two pieces.

Just to keep this guide going, I just split my existing sentence into two parts.

5. Remove jargon

In this step, I will simply remove jargon (difficult or unnecessary words). A lot of time, AI tools or existing content have fluff or jargon. In the above two sentences, there are words like “captivate, foster, and realm." These are some of the most common words you’ll see in AI content. Instead of using such words, I can use:

  • Grab attention or get attention to capture
  • Encourage or help foster
  • Age, time, world, or domain for realm

6. Rewrite the sentence in a meaningful way.

The fundamental reason behind rewriting is to write an existing sentence in a more appropriate and meaningful way. Here’s what both sentences will look like after rewriting:

This approach aims to boost brand recognition, attract new customers, and help business expansion within the domain.

You can read both sentences to identify that the readability is way better than what we previously had. But still, both sentences are pretty basic, and this isn’t something we can call good rewriting.

7. Add your way of rewriting

When it comes to writing, everybody has their own style. This is the most crucial part, as it defines whether your sentences will become good or remain ordinary.

I will rewrite the first sentence:

Sentence before:

Digital marketing includes online platforms and tools to better connect and target audiences.

Sentence after:

Online platforms and tools are extremely important in digital marketing as they help with brand recognition and audience targeting.

Now, it's time for the second sentence:

Sentence before:

This approach aims to boost brand recognition, attract new customers, and help business expansion within the domain.

Sentence after:

This helps businesses attract new customers and grow more quickly than others.

You can see that both sentences look totally genuine, and you can’t say if these are rewritten.

This is the most authentic and recommended way of rewriting sentences or text. But it takes a lot of time and requires a high amount of skill.

While the manual way is time-consuming, here are some online tools that can help you rewrite sentences more efficiently.

This tool also uses AI and machine learning, along with NLP, to rewrite like a human writer. I gave both sentences to this tool, and it returned:
