Editing Your Plan or Schedule

In this video, we will focus on editing your plan or schedule using the Forethought application. This step is essential for returning teachers who have used Forethought as their lesson planner last year and will now be teaching different courses. By matching your planner to the courses you will be teaching this school year, you ensure that your lesson plans are aligned with the new curriculum. It's important to note that editing your schedule does not delete last year's lesson plans; the changes only affect the Current year's schedule.

To begin, access the Forethought application and navigate to the Planner tab. Select your lesson planner and click on "Change My Settings." Here, you will find the option to manage your schedules. If you have multiple planners or shared planners, make sure to select your specific lesson planner.

If You will be teaching new courses, you need to add a new schedule. Click on "Schedule" and give your new schedule a distinctive name, such as your last name followed by the course name, to differentiate it from others. Next, you can add entries to your schedule. These entries represent the specific areas where you will add your lesson plans.

There are different types of entries you can add. If you want to include learning standards in your lesson plans, choose "Course with Learning Standards." This allows you to tag specific learning standards to your entries. You also have the option to copy a previous course or Create a special entry for additional notes or resources.

Once you have selected the entry Type, you can tie it to the specific course you will be teaching. You can navigate through the district course tree and select the appropriate course for each entry. Customizing the entry name can make it easier for you to identify the content later on.

You can add multiple entries for different courses or remove any unnecessary entries. Click "Next" to proceed, and now your schedule is updated with the courses you will be teaching.

If you need to change grade levels, you can edit the schedule and modify the grade range accordingly. This ensures that your schedule accurately reflects the courses you will be teaching. Remember, modifying your schedule does not affect your lesson plans from previous years; it only updates the schedule for the current school year.

Once you have updated your schedule, click "Next" and then "Begin Using Forethought." You will now see your new planner reflecting the changes when you select a date to start planning. The learning standards will be aligned with the courses you are teaching, allowing for streamlined lesson planning.

In conclusion, editing your plan or schedule in Forethought is crucial for teachers who are transitioning to new courses or grade levels. By following these steps, you can ensure that your lesson plans are correctly aligned with the curriculum for the current school year.
