The Owl House: A Beloved Disney Animated Show
The Owl House is one of Disney's most beloved animated shows to have come out in recent years. With its diverse cast, creative storyline, and amazing characters, it has captured the hearts of many viewers. However, not every character in the show can be a winner. In this article, we will be exploring the worst characters in The Owl House and discussing why they didn't quite hit the mark.
Hooty: The Annoying and Creepy Guardian of the Owl House
Taking the first spot in our ranking of the worst characters in The Owl House is Hooty, the actual Owl House himself. While Hooty does deeply care about Luz, Eda, King, and the majority of the main cast, there's no denying that this bird/worm demon has a knack for getting on the nerves of pretty much anyone he encounters. With his high-pitched, somewhat screechy voice, Hooty's voice can be pretty grating on the eardrums. Moreover, the fact that Hooty's body is of unknown length and that he can detach himself at will is somewhat disturbing. However, it's not just his annoying qualities that land Hooty on this list. He also shares a quality with other annoying characters - he doesn't realize that he's being a nuisance and continues to pester and annoy others without really growing from it. Despite these flaws, Hooty does have a solid relationship with the main characters and serves as an important character in some episodes, showing that he can be both friendly and helpful.
Bosha: The Queen Bee of Hexside
Unlike Hooty, Bosha is not only annoying to some of the other characters but she also has to be the Queen Bee at Hexside School of Magic and Demonics. Right from the start, Bosha makes it clear that she is the resident mean girl of the school, often using her social standing to push others down and make them feel inferior, particularly targeting Willow. However, when it comes to her actual friends, Bosha's loyalty and friendship are questionable at best. She used her friendship with Amity more as a status statement and once Amity ditches her previous stuck-up attitude, Bosha doesn't stick by her side or realize that her own behavior was the problem. Instead, she seems to double down on her mean-spiritedness. In the episode "For the Future," Bosha's true character is apparent when she becomes a new leader of Hexside after The Collector turns a majority of the Boiling Isles population into puppets. Despite being manipulated by Kikimora, Bosha shows how much value she places on her own status. It's only after reuniting with Amity and having Sense talked into her that Bosha finally seems to become a better person. However, her actions prior to this and her failure to grow as a person until the last few episodes are reasons enough to place Bosha on this ranking. It's worth noting that as a kid, she does have the chance to grow further as a person after having a change of heart.
Terra Snapdragon: The Manipulative Head of the Plant Coven
From Bosha's desire to be the Queen Bee of Hexside, we move on to an actual Coven Head, Terra Snapdragon. At first glance, Terra might appear as a sweet grandmother who loves working in the garden a bit too much, but she has a thorny personality that shouldn't be underestimated. As the head of the Plant Coven, she willingly uses her considerable powers to trick and manipulate others in order to further her own plans, such as giving drugged tea to Raine to brainwash them. While some other Coven Heads use their positions as double agents to prevent Emperor Belos from carrying out his plans, Terra is extremely loyal to Belos. She only begins to regret her part in Belos' plans once she sees the extent of his true intentions and her powers start to get drained as the Draining Spell begins. However, her loyalty to Belos and the manipulation of others, coupled with her disregard for the harm that may be caused, earn her a rightful place on this list. Despite being initially spared being turned into a puppet, Terra finds herself on the wrong side of The Collector in "For The Future," leading to her transformation. With her actions, manipulation, and blind loyalty to an obviously evil ruler, it's safe to say that Terra is one of the worst Coven Heads in the series.
Kikimora: Emperor Belos' Right Hand
While abusing power as a Coven Head is already quite bad, Kikimora takes it a step further as Emperor Belos' right hand. Unlike the majority of characters who are kept in the dark about Belos' true intentions, Kikimora is fully aware of what is happening and willingly helps Belos. Her reasons for doing so have more to do with her desire for power than any real dislike of her fellow demons and witches. Kikimora constantly butts heads with those she encounters, sometimes to a near-deadly degree, like with Hunter and Luz. She even disowns her own family, stating that they can burn once she believes she is getting a promotion. Even though Luz tries to help her fix her relationship with her mother, as soon as Kikimora realizes a promotion is on the line, she abandons her family. While Kikimora does play a minor role in preventing the Draining Spell alongside King, her true intentions become apparent when Luz and the others return to the Demon Realm and find that she hasn't changed. She still clings to her desire for power, taking on a leadership position at Hexside. Thankfully, the other students of Hexside, including Gus, Willow, and Hunter, are able to stop her before she can gain more power. However, her actions working for Belos, and her willingness to support genocide just to get what she wants, land Kikimora in this ranking.
Tibbles: The Capitalist Pig of the Boiling Isles
Moving on from characters obsessed with power, we have Tibbles, a character obsessed with money. To put it bluntly, Tibbles is a capitalist pig in every sense of the word. Despite only having a small number of appearances, Tibbles abuses and manipulates others just to turn a profit. In the episode "Hooty's Moving Castle," Tibbles not only raises the price of the Potion that Eda needs but also reveals his intention to turn her over to Emperor Belos and make King his servant after beating her at Hexus Hold'em. In his Second appearance in "Really Small Problems," Tibbles presents an even bigger threat by wanting to earn money at the expense of others. His ultimate plan is to shrink Luz, Willow, Gus, and King to be eaten by magical beasts at his carnival. Although his plan almost succeeds, King is able to trick Tibbles into restoring them to their normal size. While Tibbles might not have as grand or evil plans as some other characters, his sole priority being making a profit at the expense of others, coupled with his annoying attitude, definitely warrants a high ranking on this list.
Odalia Blight: The Cold and Power-Hungry Mother
Not only is our next entrant obsessed with money and social standing, but she also controls others with an iron fist. Odalia Blight is far from winning any Mother of the Year Awards. Cold, domineering, and power-hungry, Odalia is willing to do anything to maintain her elitist lifestyle. When it comes to her own family, Odalia tries to repress their independence and will go to great lengths to stop anything she perceives as going against the grain, such as her daughter Amity's childhood friendship with Willow or her relationship with Luz. Her marriage with Alador seems more like a business partership than a commitment Based on love. While there might have been a time when they genuinely loved each other, the kind of person Odalia became in later life is a far cry from who she was when she was younger. Similar to Kikimora, Odalia was knowledgeable to an extent about Belos' plans and didn't seem to care about the damage that would be caused, so long as it meant a higher social standing and more power. After the Draining Spell is stopped, Odalia still clings to a position of power and becomes a caretaker for The Collector after they take over the Boiling Isles. The eventual realization that her family is moving on without her and becoming happier and closer without her interference is one of the sweetest feelings in the series. While it would be nice to think that Odalia will reform, it's hard to believe considering her abusive behavior.
Jacob Hopkins: The Idiotic and Racist Conspiracy Theorist
Finally, we have Jacob Hopkins, the worst Owl House character who comes from the Human Realm. While most people would expect Emperor Belos to top this list, Jacob is the one who takes this spot. While Belos/Phillip Wittebane is undoubtedly despicable and has terrible qualities, he also serves as a captivating villain with a deep storyline. On the other hand, Jacob is simply an idiot. He initially appears helpful when Vee, disguised as Luz, sees him. However, once he discovers her true identity, Jacob's true nature is revealed - he is a racist conspiracy theorist. While some conspiracy theorists may have valid points and bring up compelling arguments, Jacob's knowledge seems to come from a Wikipedia article, with ideas like demons and witches coming from Mars to Collect teeth. His goal after capturing Vee is to dissect her and Record it for his MewTube Channel before alerting the government. Seeing Jacob get what he deserves when Camilla confronts and perhaps smacks some sense into him brings a sense of satisfaction. Although Belos/Phillip Wittebane is undoubtedly a despicable character, Jacob's idiocy, annoying nature, and racist beliefs make him the worst character in The Owl House.
Conclusion
In conclusion, The Owl House is a beloved Disney animated show with a diverse cast and captivating storylines. While most characters in the series are well-received, there are a few that miss the mark and are considered the worst. From Hooty's annoying and creepy qualities to Bosha's mean-spirited behavior, Terra's manipulations, Kikimora's loyalty to Belos, Tibbles' obsession with money, Odalia's control and thirst for power, and Jacob's idiocy and racism, these characters have left a negative impression on viewers. Despite their flaws, The Owl House continues to entertain and captivate audiences with its unique and imaginative world.
