Review of Fiery - A One-Star Michelin Restaurant

Hello, food hunters! Welcome back to my YouTube Channel. Today, I will be sharing my review of a recent dinner experience at Fiery, a one-star Michelin restaurant located in Midtown Manhattan. So, grab a seat and let's dive into the culinary Journey!

Introduction

Fiery is nestled in the beautiful Langham Hotel, situated at 400 Fifth Avenue in New York. As I stepped into the restaurant, I was Instantly captivated by its elegant dining room and inviting atmosphere. It was clear that I was in for a treat.

Service Experience

The staff at Fiery were undeniably friendly and approachable. From the sommelier to the waitstaff, everyone exuded warmth and hospitality. However, it seemed that the service on the night of my visit was slightly off. There were instances where it took longer to find assistance, and a few orders got mixed up. While the staff's friendliness was commendable, it felt like they were a bit frazzled that evening.

Menu Options

Fiery offers a fixed price menu, which includes four courses priced at $115. Considering the location and the fact that it is a one-star Michelin restaurant, this is quite an affordable deal. The menu allows guests to choose an antipasto, a pasta or risotto dish, an entree, and a dolce (dessert) or sweet dish.

Antipasto Dishes

One of the starters that caught my Attention was the Lobster Soup with Perigold Black Truffle and Crouton. The presentation was immaculate, with a separate serving of soup poured over the ingredients. It was a delight for both the eyes and the taste buds.

Another noteworthy antipasto dish was the Palipo, which featured octopus cooked alla piestra with chicory, penis fennel, and grandma lada. The dish was well-plated, and the octopus was surprisingly tender, making for a satisfying culinary experience.

Pasta Delights

Fiery prides itself on two exceptional pasta dishes that supposedly earned them their Michelin star. The first is the Spaghetti with Blue Crab, Lemon Buttaga, and Calabrian Chilies. This handmade pasta dish was a definite highlight of the night, bursting with flavors that left a lasting impression.

The Second pasta dish, Trofie Nero, wasn't as enjoyable for me. It featured a crustacean ragu, scallops, sepia, and spice malika. While the dish had interesting textures, the crunchiness felt a bit awkward, and it didn't quite live up to the standard set by the spaghetti dish.

Entree Recommendation

For the main course, I opted for the Austisi, a butter-poached Nova Scotia lobster served with Swiss chard puppet. The dish was beautifully plated, but the taste didn't quite live up to my expectations. It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out either. The lobster was cooked to perfection, but the overall execution fell slightly short.

Sweet Endings

To end the meal on a sweet note, I indulged in the Meal Fill. This dessert featured chicory coffee ganache, puff pastry, macadamia, and chocolate gelato. The presentation of this dish was exceptional, with intricate plating that resembled a work of art. Taste-wise, it was decent, but it didn't leave a lasting impression like some of the other dishes.

Overall Experience

My overall experience at Fiery was a mix of highs and lows. While there were no bad dishes, not every dish reached the level of excellence I had anticipated. Comparing it to a previous dining experience at Vestry, Fiery fell slightly behind. The setting was beautiful, and the staff were friendly, but some aspects of the service and the food could have been improved.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Friendly staff with a warm demeanor
  • Beautiful ambiance and setting
  • Affordable fixed price menu for a Michelin-starred restaurant

Cons:

  • Service was occasionally slow and slightly disorganized
  • Some dishes didn't meet the high expectations set by their reputation

Conclusion

In conclusion, Fiery is a one-star Michelin restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. While it may have missed the mark on certain aspects during my visit, it still has its moments of brilliance. Whether You choose to indulge in their antipasto dishes, pasta delights, or enticing entrees, Fiery has something to offer every food enthusiast. So, if you find yourself in New York City, consider giving Fiery a try. Happy eating!

Highlights

  • Stunning ambiance in the Langham Hotel
  • Friendly and approachable staff
  • Lobster soup and spaghetti with blue crab as standout dishes
  • Beautifully plated desserts
