Hey guys, this is Malunus coming at you with a quick review of Soto Kamen Rider 01ai008. In this review, I'll be discussing the various figures included in this Wave and sharing my thoughts on each of them. So, let's dive right in!

The first figure I want to talk about is Ikazuchi. This character made its debut a while back, and if you weren't following the blog, it might seem like a delayed release. However, the blog provided some fascinating insight into the way things work at Bandai. According to Mr. G on the Candy Toy blog, Ikazuchi was a character he wasn't even aware of until it debuted. This gives us an idea of how long it takes for something to be made after Bandai becomes aware of it.

2. The Design of Ikazuchi Figure

Ikazuchi uses the Bloodstock body, same as Zero-One, but with some notable additions. They have added new thighs that incorporate the straps that Mitsubo Jin and Izu folk are known for. Swappable hands have also been included, allowing for more dynamic posing options.

3. Accessories and Details of Ikazuchi Figure

One thing that intrigued me about Ikazuchi was the color choice for the body. While the show features a red suit, Bloodstock's release leaned more towards a purple color. The concept art for Ikazuchi also showed a similar color, but the physical suit ended up being more accurate to the show. This attention to detail is commendable, making the Ikazuchi figure a faithful representation of the suit.

Included with Ikazuchi are his swords, which are different molds compared to the ones that come with the Dodo Magia in the previous wave. These swords do not have a peg and instead attach directly to the figure. This figure stands out and has quickly become one of my favorites.

Soto has done an excellent job in ensuring that this figure is well-equipped for various poses and interactions.

5. Kamen Rider Barlocks Figure

Moving on, we have the Kamen Rider Barlocks figure, the main villain of the Geo summer movie. This figure is incredibly well-painted, with attention given to important details. The straps on the chest, for example, have a specific shade of brown that is accurately reproduced. However, there is one aspect that I am not particularly fond of - the gold sticker used for the hook on the watch strap. The application of this sticker on rounded edges can be tricky and might not hold up well over time.

One of the highlights of this wave is Barlocks' clear blue version. This variant represents the scene from the movie where Barlocks becomes a giant water giant by combining the Kamen Rider J Ride Watch with the Bio Rider Ride Watch. Soto has done an impressive job by casting the entire figure in clear blue plastic, capturing the transparent effect seen in the movie. However, as someone experienced with transformers figures, I can't help but worry about the longevity of clear plastic, as it has been prone to cracking in the past. Nonetheless, this figure is a delightful addition to the collection.

Last but not least, we have Zamones, the final figure in the Quartzers from the Jio summer movie. Based on the designs of the Amazons, this figure has a lot of great paintwork. However, there are a few missed opportunities for additional paint apps, such as gunmetal silver. The coat attachment feels a bit loose compared to other figures, but it still functions adequately. One minor flaw I noticed is that the Jiku Driver, which should be black, is cast in gray plastic instead. Fortunately, these small issues can be resolved with some simple paintwork.
