Introduction
Welcome back to my Channel, "Happiness and Crafting"! In today's video, it's Friday Freebie Day, and We Are on number 140. I have prepared a lovely Blue collage page using tea stain papers. I will be using this tea stain paper to Create a simple journal with pockets and journal cards. It's an easy DIY project, perfect for beginners. So let's get started!
Friday Freebies
Every Friday, I share freebies on my Facebook page, and recently, I have also started offering them on Etsy and Kofi for those who are not on Facebook. It's a great way to get access to exclusive printables and craft supplies. Make sure to check the links in the description below to get your hands on these freebies.
Making a Collage Page
To begin, I have printed a tea stain paper on the back of a blue paper. This will give a beautiful vintage look to our journal. I have prepared two such papers, as we will be using them to create our journal.
Using Tea Stain Papers
Tea stain papers add a unique and rustic Charm to any craft project. They are easy to make at home by soaking white papers in black tea and letting them dry. Once dry, You can print or write on the tea stain side to create a vintage look.
Creating a Simple Journal
Now let's move on to creating our simple journal. We will be using the two tea stain papers we prepared earlier. Fold the papers in half and create a little pocket by scoring and folding the edges. This pocket will hold our journaling cards.
Adding Journal Cards and Pockets
To make the journaling cards, cut the folded paper into four equal parts. These will serve as the pages for our journal. Round the corners of each page for a polished look.
Next, choose your desired words or phrases from the pastel words and phrases collection. Use a glue stick or adhesive to attach them to the journaling cards. This will add a personal touch and make the journal more Meaningful.
Decorating with Words and Phrases
The pastel words and phrases collection offers a variety of options to choose from. You can pick words that resonate with you or reflect your mood or theme for the journal. The adhesive backing makes it easy to stick them on the journaling cards.
Sewing and Binding the Journal
If you want to add a special touch to your journal, you can sew around the edges of the cover. This will give a neat and finished look to the journal. Thread a needle with embroidery thread and sew along the outer edges. Take your time and ensure the stitches are even. Trim any excess thread once you're done.
Adding Journaling Pages
To add more space for journaling, we will create an additional section within the journal. Take a piece of paper slightly shorter than the journaling cards and fold it into three parts. This will give you ample writing space when the pages are opened.
Mark the spots where you want to make holes for binding. Use a Pencil to make the markings and ensure they Align with the gaps in the journaling cards. Thread your needle and sew the pages into the journal. Be patient and make sure the stitches are secure.
Finalizing the Journal
To complete our journal, let's add a closure. Use a small strip of Velcro and attach it to the front cover and the pocket flap. This will ensure that your journal stays closed when not in use. You can also decorate the cover with additional embellishments if desired.
And there you have it! Your beautiful handmade journal is ready to be filled with your thoughts, memories, and creative ideas. Enjoy the process of journaling and let your creativity flow on its pages.
