Unless you've been unplugged and camping in the wilderness for the last couple of years, you've probably heard about the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI). More specifically, the buzz has been around Large Language Models (LLM) like ChatGPT. Stand-alone, ChatGPT is pretty impressive and it's even more remarkable what people are using it for. One of the ways that companies are using LLMs for is via a process known as Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). In a nutshell, RAG is a set of algorithms that let you to use documents with LLMS - essentially AI on your own Intellectual Property (IP). In this session, Joe Mayo shows you the basics of how RAG works via his own open-source software (OSS), Generellem. Full disclosure - Generellem is the underlying engine of Joe's new SaaS startup, Generellem Inc. After this discussion, you'll get the gist of what RAG is and understand some of the powerful new ways that developers are leveraging LLMs. Joe Mayo has been working as an author, instructor, and independent consultant for several years. His 9 books include C# Cookbook/O'Reilly and Programming the Microsoft Bot Framework/MS Press. For his community contributions, Joe has received 15 Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) awards. Recently, Joe co-founded a new company, Generellem, Inc. (https://generellem.ai), letting people safely use AI with their own documents. Joe lives in Las Vegas and, in addition to local events, you can find him on X as @JoeMayo. Joshua Copeland is CTO of Remote Dev Force (https://www.remotedevforce.com) and works with clients all over the world to build high quality systems.
