Introduction

In this video tutorial, I will Show You how to use Blender with Stable Diffusion, running on Google Colab. First, we will set up the plugin for Blender, followed by running Stable Diffusion on a Google Colab notebook. Lastly, we will use the plugin in Blender to generate AI images. So, let's dive in and get started!

Setting up the Plugin for Blender

To begin, we need to download and install the AI Render plugin for Blender. This plugin allows us to render AI images using Stable Diffusion. However, please note that the plugin requires a free account at Dream Studio for it to work. Additionally, if you choose to render images, it will require Dream Studio credits, which come at a cost. Alternatively, you can use a local installation of Stable Diffusion, but you will need a GPU that supports it.

Running Stable Diffusion on Google Colab

In a previous video, I showcased a Stable Diffusion plugin that works with Google Colab. In this video, we will use the same Google Colab backend for our AI Render plugin. I have made some modifications to the plugin to make it compatible with Stable Diffusion on Google Colab. You can find the modified plugin file in the description. Once downloaded, we can unzip and install the plugin in Blender.

Using the Plugin in Blender to Generate AI Images

With the AI Render plugin installed, we can now use it to generate AI images in Blender. To do this, we'll need to set up the Google Colab backend first. The backend is responsible for handling requests and generating the AI images. Once the backend is set up, we can proceed to Create a scene in Blender and Apply the plugin to render our desired image.

Installing the AI Render Plugin for Blender

To install the AI Render plugin in Blender, go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons. From there, click on "Install" and locate the modified plugin file. Once installed, remember to activate the plugin by expanding the "Advanced Local Installation" section and checking the "Enable Rendering" option. Lastly, enter the Google Colab backend URL that we previously copied during the setup process.

Configuring the Google Colab Backend for the Plugin

To configure the Google Colab backend for the AI Render plugin, make sure you have the backend running in the Google Colab notebook. Keep the backend running and copy the provided link, as we'll need to use it in Blender. Once copied, open Blender and navigate to the plugin settings. Paste the Google Colab backend link in the appropriate field and save the changes.

Selecting the Stable Diffusion Model

With the backend configured, we can now select the Stable Diffusion model to use for generating our AI images. You can choose the default model from Hugging Face or a custom model that you have trained. If you opt for a custom model, make sure to copy the path to the model checkpoint and set the model checkpoint in the plugin settings accordingly.

Rendering with the AI Render Plugin

Once everything is set up, we can start rendering AI images using the AI Render plugin. Simply create a scene in Blender and set up the desired camera angle and objects. In the plugin settings, enter a prompt for the image, select a style, and adjust any additional parameters according to your preferences. Finally, click on "Render Image" to send the scene to Stable Diffusion for AI image generation.

Trying Different Styles and Parameters with the Plugin

The AI Render plugin allows you to experiment with different styles and parameters to achieve the desired AI image output. You can try out various styles, adjust image similarity, steps, strength, and sampling parameters to see how they affect the generated image. Keep in mind that certain parameters may be limited or not applicable when using the modified plugin with the Google Colab backend.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we have learned how to set up the AI Render plugin for Blender and use Stable Diffusion running on Google Colab to generate AI images. By following the steps outlined in this tutorial, you can unlock the power of AI image generation within Blender. Have fun experimenting with different scenes, styles, and parameters to create unique and captivating AI-generated images.
