Introduction

Welcome to the first tutorial on my Joel designs Channel! In this tutorial, we will be creating a lighthouse design using Infinite Painter. If You're new to the program, this tutorial will serve as a great introduction. Before we start, make sure you check the video description for the tutorial requirements, including the canvas size and palette image. If you enjoy the tutorial, don't forget to give it a thumbs up and share your designs with me on Instagram by tagging me @designswithjoel. Now, let's jump right into it!

Requirements

To follow along with this tutorial, you will need the following:

  • Infinite Painter program
  • Canvas size (2000x2000)
  • Palette image (provided in the tutorial description)

Creating a Canvas

To begin, open Infinite Painter and navigate to the canvas creator by clicking on the plus icon in the top right corner. Here, you can define the size of your canvas. Set the width and Height to 2000. Once done, click on "Create" to enter the canvas.

Creating a Palette

In this tutorial, we will create a custom palette for our lighthouse design. To do this, we will first need to add layers. Tap on the layer icon to bring up the layer overview. Create a new layer and go to the colors section. Select the third color in the palette image and go to the brush options. Choose the monoline brush and set the opacity to 100. Adjust the brush size to 10, either by tapping on the brush size icon or swiping with three fingers.

Adding Layers

Now that we have our base layer and brush settings, let's create the main elements of the lighthouse design. Create a new layer to work on and draw the Outline of the lighthouse using the monoline brush. Extend the lines from the top and bottom points to create a closed Shape. Make sure to connect the lines to form a continuous shape.

Drawing the Lighthouse Silhouette

Next, let's add details to the lighthouse silhouette. Draw a straight line across the top to create the top section of the lighthouse. From the top, draw a line downwards at a slight angle to create a banister-like structure. Add a horizontal line in the middle and draw a window panel line. In the center of the window panel, draw a small circle to represent the light. Fill in the shapes using the fill tool in the create options menu.

Adding the Misty Background

To create a misty background, we will use the monoline brush again. Draw several lines starting from the top and bottom edges of the canvas, angling them towards the lighthouse. Ensure the lines extend beyond the canvas edges to create a boundary. Use the fill tool to fill in the space between the lines. Repeat this process on multiple layers, decreasing the opacity of each layer to create a gradient effect.

Creating the Glow Effect

To add a glow effect to the lighthouse, create a new layer above the silhouette layer. Use the fill tool to fill the entire layer with white. Adjust the layer's opacity to your desired level. Use the eraser tool with a soft Airbrush brush to erase parts of the layer and create a faded effect. Tap on the layer to adjust its opacity and make it Blend well with the misty background.

Adding the Moon

Create another new layer above the background layers and use the create options menu to draw a circle in the top right corner. Fill the circle with white using the fill tool. Adjust the layer's opacity to your preference. Duplicate the layer and Apply a blur effect to one of the layers to create a glowing effect. Tap on the tick icon to apply the changes.

Adding the Night Sky

The final layer we will create is for the night sky. Use the brush tool with a splatter brush to create small splatters on a new layer. Be careful not to overdo it, as it can clutter the design. Duplicate the layer and apply a blur effect to one of the layers to create a subtle glow around the stars. Adjust the opacity of both layers to achieve the desired look.

And there you have it! You've successfully created a lighthouse design using Infinite Painter. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it helpful.
