Introduction
Hello everyone! Welcome to another exciting book haul. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you who attended the Latinx Heritage Month Book Fest. Your support means the world to me. In this book haul, I will be sharing with you the books I acquired, thanks to your support on Ko-fi.
Latinx Heritage Month Book Fest
The Latinx Heritage Month Book Fest was an incredible event that celebrated Latino authors and their works. I was fortunate to participate in several panels and I want to express my gratitude to all those who attended. Whether you watched one panel or all of them, thank you for supporting this event. Your enthusiasm and encouragement mean everything to me as an online reading enthusiast.
Malinche by Laura Esquivel
The first book I want to Show you is "Malinche" by Laura Esquivel. This novelized biography delves into the story of Malinche, an important historical figure. Written by one of my favorite authors, Laura Esquivel, this book promises to be a captivating Read. I'm particularly intrigued by the portrayal of Malinche as the interpreter between Hernán Cortés, the colonizer, and the Huey Tlatoani, the government of Tenochtitlan. Discovering more about Malinche and her role in history is an exciting prospect.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Next, I want to talk about "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley. This classic Novel has always held a special place in my heart, but I had an ugly copy that I no longer wanted. So, I decided to get a new edition with a beautiful cover. The new book is much more readable and I can't wait to dive back into the world of Frankenstein's monster.
PS I Still Love You by Jenny Han
One of my favorite series is "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" by Jenny Han. I had already read the Second and third books digitally, but I wanted to own physical copies of the entire series. Unfortunately, I could only find the second book, "PS I Still Love You," in the edition that matched my existing copy of the first book. I debated getting an unmatching edition, but ultimately decided to wait until I can find the third book in the same edition. If you happen to know where I can get it, please let me know!
Say Yes to the Marquess by Tessa Dare
"Say Yes to the Marquess" by Tessa Dare is the first book I've ever read from this author. I came across it at the bookstore and felt drawn to it. Although I wasn't able to read it during the historical romance readathon, I'm excited to pick it up soon. Historical romances have always been a favorite genre of mine, and I'm always on the lookout for new authors to explore.
Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue
Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon "Behold the Dreamers" by Imbolo Mbue at a used bookstore. This adult contemporary novel follows the story of a Cameroonian immigrant living in Harlem. While I don't know much about the book beyond that, it's an Oprah's Book Club pick from 2017, which already Speaks volumes about its quality. I'm grateful to have found this gem and I can't wait to Delve into its pages.
Brief Chronicle of Another Stupid Heartbreak by Adi Alsaid
"Brief Chronicle of Another Stupid Heartbreak" by Adi Alsaid is another book I unexpectedly found at the used bookstore. I've always wanted to read a book by this author, especially after hearing about "North of Happy." When I discovered this book, I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Sometimes, the best surprises come when you least expect them.
The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
Lastly, I want to share my excitement for "The Poet X" by Elizabeth Acevedo. This book was an unexpected find during my bookstore visit. As I browsed through the English section, I hardly expected to come across a book I truly desired. "The Poet X" was just that, a pure chance encounter. It's a book that I've heard so much praise for, and I can't wait to finally read it. To the person who left this book at the used bookstore, thank you. You truly made my day.
