Introduction

👋 Welcome to my YouTube Channel! In this video, I will be presenting a build of a mini ITX computer that is completely passively cooled. This build features an Intel n100 processor and a range of high-quality components. Follow along as I walk you through the process of building this silent PC.

Component List

Before we dive into the build process, let's take a look at the components we'll be using for this mini ITX build:

  • Intel n100 processor
  • ASRock Deskmini Kit
  • 16GB Crucial DDR4 RAM
  • Kingston 2TB NVMe SSD
  • Asus Prime n100 motherboard
  • Intertech ITX 601 case
  • 60W notebook power supply

Motherboard Installation

To start the build, we first need to install the motherboard. Begin by attaching the back plate and aligning it with the connectors on the motherboard. Carefully press them together, making sure they are securely connected. Next, position the motherboard in the case and screw it in place. Take your time with this step to ensure the motherboard is properly secured.

Power Supply Installation

Next, we'll install the power supply. The 60W notebook power supply is passively cooled, making it ideal for a silent PC build. Mount the power supply with the provided screws on the left and right side of the case. Be sure to Align it correctly so that the power plug on the motherboard lines up with the power supply. This may take a bit of maneuvering, but with patience, you can make it fit snugly.

RAM Installation

Now it's time to install the RAM. The n100 motherboard only supports single-channel RAM, so we'll be using a single 16GB Crucial DDR4 RAM module. Simply insert the RAM module into the designated slot on the motherboard and press it down until it clicks into place. With the RAM installed, we're one step closer to completing our build.

NVMe SSD Installation

For storage, we'll be using a Kingston 2TB NVMe SSD. This high-speed drive ensures quick access to your files and applications. To install the NVMe SSD, first, remove the bracket that is designed for mounting 2.5-inch drives. Since we're using an NVMe SSD, we don't need this bracket. Instead, place the SSD directly on the motherboard, ensuring it sits above the CPU and has proper airflow for cooling.

Wireless LAN Card Installation

If you require wireless connectivity, you can install a wireless LAN card. In this build, we'll be using an inexpensive wireless LAN kit with Bluetooth capabilities. The ASRock Deskmini wireless LAN card comes with two antennas. Install the card into the designated slot on the motherboard and connect the antennas using the provided pigtails. If the case only has one antenna slot, you can mount the Second antenna inside the case using tape.

Cable Connections

With the components installed, it's time to connect the cables. Refer to the motherboard documentation for the correct orientation of the connectors. Make sure to connect the power switch and the motherboard connectors for the lights. Take Care to route the cables in a way that does not obstruct the airflow over the CPU. This ensures optimal heat dissipation.

Closing the Case

Once all the components and cables are in place, it's time to close the case. Secure the case with the provided screws, ensuring all sides are properly aligned. Double-check that everything is securely fastened before moving on.

Final Thoughts

Congratulations! You have successfully built a mini ITX computer that is completely passively cooled. This silent PC is perfect for tasks such as YouTube, internet browsing, and office work. While it may not be suitable for gaming or resource-intensive applications, it offers a quiet and efficient computing experience. Enjoy your new mini ITX build and happy computing!
