5 Tools Every Developer and Tester Should Know About

Hi and welcome back to my YouTube Channel, Software Testing. My name is Daniel Knott, and in today's video, I would like to Show You five tools that you can use as a software tester, developer, or product manager to make your life in a development team easier.

Apply Tools - The Next Generation Test Automation Platform

First up, I would like to introduce you to Apply Tools, the next generation test automation platform powered by visual AI. Using visual AI, it improves test speed, efficiency, and reliability to catch more bugs. At the same time, you can reduce your written lines of code to get a more maintainable code base. If you haven't tried Apply Tools yet in your project, go and do it. I tried it myself, and it works amazingly. The setup is easy and delivers fast results. I was really impressed by their visual AI capabilities, and it was drastically removing or reducing the number of false positives in the project. So, you can use the link below in the video description to get a free account today. The free account allows one user to Create 100 checkpoints per month, and it's free forever. That's the really cool thing. There's no credit card required, and Apply Tools offers SDKs that support several testing frameworks in multiple languages such as Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright. You can use Apply Tools to test web apps, mobile applications, desktop apps, PDFs, screenshots, and many more. The Apply Tools SDK installs directly into your project for seamless integration. Make sure to sign up today to get your free 100 checkpoints per month.

10 Minute Email - A Tool for Testing Email Functionality

The next tool I would like to present is called 10 Minute Email. There are plenty of tools out there that do the same thing, and the one thing that they provide you with is an email with a valid email address that you can copy and paste and use it in your production system, testing system, or staging system in order to test, for example, a sign-up flow, a newsletter subscription, or anything that you have in your mind or in your testing requirements. Whenever an email gets sent to that email address, it will be shown up in this valid inbox. The inbox is updating itself all the time, and you can see whether there's an email or not. You can check out what's going to happen with your email content that you would like to test or if you would like to test if a sign-up was complete or not.

Bug Magnet - A Tool for Testing Input Fields

The third tool I would like to present is also a pretty famous tool that I hope at least software testers know already, and that's the tool called Bug Magnet. Once the plugin is installed, you can go up and every system or on every web application in your Firefox browser in order to test different kinds of inputs. Bug Magnet offers you plenty of different things. It offers you some Lorem Ipsum text that you can add, valid names with some different characters, longer ones, unusual characters, and other character sets. Even in Japanese, you can use it in order to perform some testing activities. It offers many more things, and it's highly appreciated by the community. If you haven't used it so far, get it and try it out.

Developer Tools - Inspect and Debug Web Applications

The fourth tool I would like to present is the developer tools that are offered by modern web browsers. You can inspect accessibility properties, which is really cool because you can see if a Website has used the different accessibility labels that can be implemented in order to provide a much better and more robust application, also for handicapped people. The good thing is whenever you have added the accessibility labels, also your accessibility tree looks much smoother and much cleaner, and it's really easy to automate your application. You can also inspect different elements, and you see exactly the HTML that is rendered in the browser for manipulation or any further checkups. You also have a console where you can get information about error codes, warnings, and these kinds of things that are really helpful in order to provide a stable and useful application.

Lorem Ipsum Generator - A Tool for Generating Dummy Text

The fifth tool I would like to present is a lorem ipsum generator for longer Texts. If you search for a lorem ipsum generator, you find plenty of different tools on the market. It's a pretty simple web page where you can define how many paragraphs, sentences, words, or characters you would like to have. Some of the tools can also specify the number of characters. You just say five sentences, generate, and there you go. There are five sentences for you to copy to copy it in your testing application in your inputs, and it's a simple and easy powerful tool that you can use in order to improve your life as a tester, product manager, or developer.

Link Checker - A Tool for Checking Broken Links

Last but not least, I would like to talk about the Link Checker, a tool called Link Check. It runs a check on your website, and you can filter for broken links, 500, 500, 200, 300, and so forth. It's a simple and easy tool that you can use in your browser extension to make your life easier.

Other Useful Tools for Developers and Testers

There are many other tools that I could recommend, such as Surname IDE or ADB on mobile. Maybe I'll do a follow-up video. Let me know in the comments what kind of tools you are using in your daily life as a product manager, developer, or tester. Maybe I can learn something new as well from the community.

Conclusion

In conclusion, these are the five tools that I would like to present to you today. Apply Tools, 10 Minute Email, Bug Magnet, Developer Tools, Lorem Ipsum Generator, and Link Checker. I hope you found this video helpful, and if you did, leave me a thumbs up. Also, a subscription would be nice. Thank you for watching, and have a great day.
