📢 Introduction

Welcome everyone to the inaugural AI Challenge sponsored by the Queensland AI Labs. We are thrilled to have you here and appreciate your participation in making this initiative a success. Before we kick off, we would like to acknowledge Dave Johnson from Heritage Bank, who will discuss our first challenge. We also invite you to ask questions in the Live Chat so we can provide immediate answers.

🏆 The Queensland AI Challenge

The Queensland AI Challenge presented by the Queensland AI Labs is a platform where individuals, startups, teams, students, and even consulting companies can participate in solving real-world problems. Heritage Bank is our problem owner, offering two intriguing challenges that can be conceptually solved by anyone in Queensland. Whether you have technical expertise or are skilled at presenting solutions, this challenge is open to all. You have a five-week period to develop and submit your solution.

💡 The Concept of Queensland AI Labs

Queensland AI Labs was conceived with the goal of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the community. Our aim is to reduce barriers for enterprises to adopt AI and facilitate a commercial discussion on its benefits. We envision AI not only as a theoretical concept but also as a tool for delivering better Customer Service, reducing costs, and making a positive impact in the community.

🔍 The Challenges Presented by Heritage Bank

Heritage Bank, with its deep roots in the community, has presented two challenges focusing on solving problems related to financial hardship and improving customer experiences. While financial hardship is the most prevalent, participants are encouraged to explore other socio-economic hardships and propose innovative solutions. Heritage Bank will guide the judging process and potentially collaborate with the winner in a commercial arrangement.

🙌 How to Engage with Mentors

We have a network of mentors ready to assist participants on their challenge journey. The mentors' profiles can be found on our website, along with their areas of expertise. You can reach out to them directly for guidance, feedback, and collaboration. They may even help you refine your presentations and solutions. Take advantage of this mentor network to enhance your chances of success.

🔒 Accessing Anonymized Transaction Data

While Heritage Bank does not provide anonymized transaction data, there are numerous publicly available datasets that you can leverage for your solution. We will provide guidance and links to these datasets on our website. Remember that intellectual property ownership rests with you, even if you choose to use external datasets.

💰 Costs and Reimbursement

Participation costs are entirely up to you. If you believe your solution has significant potential and are willing to invest, go ahead and back yourself. However, keep in mind that conceptual solutions or video presentations can be equally effective without significant financial investments.

🤝 Partnering with Canvas Co-Working

Canvas Co-Working, based in Toowoomba, is one of our partners extending the reach of Queensland AI Labs. They provide workspace for remote workers, freelancers, and small businesses while fostering connections and offering programs to help individuals start their own businesses. This partnership allows us to offer unique opportunities to connect, collaborate, and form partnerships within the regional community.

🌐 Community Engagement and Involvement

As the Chief Community Officer, my focus is to drive community engagement, educate about the benefits of AI, and connect stakeholders with community groups. We encourage regional Queenslanders to sign up and get involved, whether as participants or volunteers. We have volunteer positions spanning various roles, and they offer a great opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute to the AI community.
