Progress Update: Obtaining JSON Files

Let's get back to where we left off in our previous session. We have successfully broken down all of our opinions into JSON files. However, not all of these files are usable due to formatting and completeness issues. This is expected as We Are in the rapid prototyping phase.

Issues with JSON Files

As we examine the JSON files, we Notice inconsistencies in their format and structure. Some files include a graph element, while others do not. Similarly, some files have graph properties, while others do not. In order to proceed further, we need to validate and homogenize these files.

Converting JSON to GEXF

Our goal is to Visualize the JSON data in GEXF format using the Gephi software. However, Gephi only accepts GEXF, GraphML, or CSV files, and our data is currently in JSON format. Therefore, we need to convert the JSON files to GEXF format.

Fortunately, the Pi LD library can help us with this conversion. We will use the Pi LD library function is_valid_json_ld() to check if the loaded JSON object is legitimate. If it passes the validation, we will proceed with the conversion process.

If any errors occur during the conversion, we will catch them using a try-except clause and print the error messages. By doing this, we can identify and address any issues with the data.

To ensure compatibility and consistency, we will make it a standard practice to set the encoding to UTF-8 when opening, reading, and writing files.
