Unboxing and Installation of EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 XC Ultra

Hey guys, welcome back! In this article, we will be discussing the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 XC Ultra graphics card. I recently did an unboxing and installation video of this graphics card, and many of you have been curious about its noise levels. Today, I'm going to provide you with a detailed sound test so you can judge for yourself.

Before we dive into the sound test, let me quickly go over the components of the system. The graphics card is installed in my system, which consists of the Fractal Design case with two front intake fans, a rear exhaust fan, the Arctic Freezer III CPU fan, and the power supply fan. These are the only fans currently running in the system, as the graphics card fans are off when idle.

Now, let's move on to the sound test. Keep in mind that the sound may appear slightly louder than usual because the side panel of my PC is currently off. However, the ambient audio in the room is relatively quiet. So, let's take a listen to the idle sound of the system.

(Ambient audio plays)

As you can hear, the idle sound is not too loud. Now, let's switch over to the PC and open up "Shadow of the Tomb Raider". I'll show you the graphics settings I have enabled before we proceed.

(PC audio switches to Game audio)

Inside the game settings, I'm currently running at a resolution of 2560x1440 with DirectX 12 enabled. Unfortunately, the game is not giving me the option to play at a higher resolution at the moment. The anti-aliasing is set to SMAAT2X, and the Vsync is turned off. Let's apply these settings and jump into a benchmark to test the graphics card's performance.

(Game audio plays)

The graphics in the game are absolutely stunning. Before Recording with OBS, I was getting around 70 frames per Second, though OBS does have a slight impact on the frame rate. Even with OBS running, I'm still maintaining a solid 60 frames per second.

Now that you've heard the sound of the graphics card while the game was playing, let's switch back to the previous sound test before the game started.

(PC audio switches back to previous sound test)

As you can hear, the sound of the graphics card is relatively quiet even during gameplay. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 XC Ultra does an excellent job of keeping the noise levels low. Now, let's go through the entire benchmark so you can hear the graphics card rev up a little more.

(Benchmark plays with increased fan noise)

During the benchmark, the fans on the graphics card ramp up slightly, but the noise levels remain manageable. The game itself is quite demanding, especially with all the settings maxed out, but the graphics card handles it exceptionally well.

To address any concerns about temperature, I tried to get temperature readings using precision and afterburner software, but unfortunately, I encountered some monitoring issues. However, I will provide you with accurate temperature information in a future article.

In conclusion, the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 XC Ultra is a powerful graphics card that delivers impressive performance while maintaining relatively low noise levels. Whether you're gaming or performing intensive tasks, this graphics card proves to be a reliable and efficient option.
