Back to where it all began on tour tomorrow… • You may recognise Dunmore Park House from #Outlander episode 1x01 “Sassenach” & the very first time we see Claire Fraser (then Randall), fighting to save lives on the front lines of WWII. It is at this very spot she finds out the war has ended. What a magnificent location this is. • Built between 1820-1825 for George Murray, the 5th Earl of Dunmore, the Tudor-Gothic mansion was once the core of the Dunmore Estate. The Dunmore family lived on the park grounds until 1911 and was a private home until 1961. The mansion was left to ruin in 1972 where there was a partial demolition of the rest and the removal of several roofs and floors to avoid taxes.
